The world’s largest maker of of wheat beer – Privatbrauerei Erdinger Weißbräu Werner Brombach GmbH, better known in these parts as the less tongue-twisting Erdinger – will be hosting a series of events across Singapore over three weekends to celebrate Oktoberfest this year.

Erdinger will be celebrating Oktoberfest with a big bang this year, bringing a full gamut of Oktoberfest themed activities in three different venues – Suntec City, Star Vista and Clarke Quay – in Singapore for an authentic and full Bavarian beer experience. Consumers can expect the limited-edition Erdinger Oktoberfest Brew that is only available during this season, as well as specially developed tasting menus in dining outlets at those venues, along with a lively party with music by an authentic German brass band to make the experience complete.

On 12 October of 1810, the city of Munich was in the throes of a massive celebration. Its Crown Prince, Ludwig I, was marrying the Saxon princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen and the citizens – all 40,000 of them – were invited to partake in a large feast held in the fields in front of Munich’s city gates that involved copious amounts of beer and grilled meats of all kinds. This developed into what we know as Oktoberfest today.

Oktoberfest today is an eye-popping 16-day affair that ends on the first Sunday of October, in case you’re wondering why the festival kicks off in the month of September.

But what you should really look out for at each venue is the Erdinger BARcycle, a mobile vehicle equipped with a beer dispenser that offers complimentary tasting portions of Erdinger wheat beer, namely the Erdinger Oktoberfest Brew, Erdinger Weissbier, Erdinger Dunkel and Erdinger Alkoholfrei. The mobile bar will travel along a designated route, even picking up partygoers along the way (which, with potentially inebriated revellers trying to get on or off, should be fun to watch).

The Erdinger Oktoberfest celebrations will take place at:

  • 21st September to 2nd October: Suntec City, Suntec Plaza, 3 Temasek Boulevard
  • 3rd to 11th October: Clarke Quay Central, 6 Eu Tong Sen Street
  • 19th to 28th Oct: The Star Vista, B1 Star Plaza, 1 Vista Exchange Green

  1. […] Leading German beer brand Erdinger normally celebrates Oktoberfest in a very big way here in Singapore. Aside from being the choice beer at the Oktoberfest festivities at The Swiss Club, it also throws huge public festivities around town. In 2017, for example, it brought a full gamut of Oktoberfest themed activities to three different malls for a full-on Bavarian beer experience. […]
